Meaning of Kids

I really love this song, it’s really upbeat and helps when my mood goes down.
But I never really got the lyrics. Is it how we idolize people at a young age, or is it more then that?

Thank you to anyone who replies.

Hi and thanks for posting the forum!

Glad that you like my song Kids, I was inspired to write it when I was in Los Angeles, making my Tigermouth album. I was staying in Hollywood, which always evokes this strange awe in me, all the ghosts of the stars of a golden era of film making seem to be wandering lost in the desert metropolis.
There is a very dark side to Hollywood and Kids was my reaction to the cult and star obsessed side of the city and inspired by the idols we create which sometimes border on obsession.

Hope that gives you a deeper insight to the song, thanks for taking an interest,

Hope that you’re enjoying the songs on Rocking Horse too!

Best Wishes, Kelli x

Thank you Kelli,

I myself am into the golden age of Hollywood, so it does make alot of sense to me.
And Rocking Horse is really great. Thank you!

In the 1960’s I lived in Southern California and watched all the old black and white films of the thirties on television.  I also use to like to watch a television series called Silents Please hosted by Ernie Kovacs.  Old Hollywood had a certain magic that influenced me in my youthful imagination.  But another phenomena that came through LA was The Doors.  Jim had that ability to draw in that old magic into his persona.  The studios were dying but Jim understood film and music.  The Doors filled a certain gap that other LA bands could not fill.  It was a certain kind of mysticism I can not explain.  The songs say it all.  The End expresses a darkness found in Truman Capote’s Cold Blood, which came through in a dark LA episode:  The Tate/La Bianca Murders and Charlie Manson’s family.  An invisible Santana Wind blew through all Southern California, and peace was compromised.  Jim was in tune with the deeper rivers flowing.  The Kids video reminds me of the scene in The Doors Movie, when they go out to trip in the desert.
