Max and I have a week off, to consider the songs and think about the direction of the album, Next week we will work on the guitars with Mark Pilley. I am very excited about this.
Rocking Horse will be the first record I have made which is so inspired by the acoustic guitar. Even after four years of learning to play the acoustic guitar, I’m not ready to play on this record, that’s okay though, writing these songs has been the first step for me, exploring how I can work with the acoustic to write and explore the different ways of using the acoustic guitar to work on melody.
It will be very interesting to hear what Mark comes up with and how he interprets my original guitar parts. I’m going to be learning a lot, this will be the first time that I have worked extensively with an acoustic player since I began learning the acoustic guitar myself. I am hoping I can pick up some tips from Mark and I am eager to understand how a deep knowledge of the guitar affects how the guitar is played and sounds in comparison to my basic ideas.
I’ve been having a great time walking around Edinburgh, what a lovely city. Its Grand architecture soars up out of the rocky face the of the land and from North Bridge, today, I viewed the lush green majesty of Salisbury Crags, what a cool place.
I have found people to be very warm and friendly here and I’m enjoying the open air and enchanting streets of Edinburgh.
