Let’s Go San Francisco!

03 February 2007

After a wicked couple of weeks in L.A. with our friends, Jed and Lucia and Woody and Jon, we headed for San Francisco.
San Francisco is one of our favorite cities in the world. There is such a great music scene there and it’s mush easier to get around without a car (unlike L.A. which is very hard work indeed without a car!)

We love hopping on and off the trams but mostly we love walking around the cool city of SF. We walk and walk and walk!

Our first stop in San Francisco is always with our very good friends, Jenny Kerr, Phil Milner and Eric McFadden. These people are amazing hard core road lovers and always out on the road playing their music.

Jenny and Phil have been playing their own kind of Bluegrass, Americana, Folk, Rock music all over America and Europe and we actually met them a few years ago on our travels through Mexico, at the Zihuatenejo guitar festival, which is a wicked guitar festival for all kinds of people.

We hit it off straight away and have been hanging out with Phil and Jenny in San Francisco whenever we get chance. As soon as we arrive, we are welcomed with true West Coast love and a party always ensues! Jenny knows how to inspire a great time and music follows her wherever she goes. Her house is always full of music and warmth and laughter and friends.

Eric McFadden also lives with jenny and Phil, he is a great guitarist and is almost always out on the road. We often get chance to go to a gig, as he’s always playing in some cool club such as he Boom Boom Rooms or Cafe du Nord.

We love those guys and many a night we’ve sat around a made songs together. Eric and I wrote a song called Long Way Down together one day and Phil instantly jumps up and begins recording us. That’s how it is there, music is everywhere and writing a song is as natural as making a cup of coffee in that beautiful house.

So here we are in one of our most loved and special places in the world. I love this garden, the sun shines and the birds sing here. I play my little guitar in the afternoons for a while here and every day is full of laughter and music.
