Recording Organ and Piano and Banjo

Today Max played the B3 Organ for the songs, going through a Leslie cab, the organ is a roaring beast and it sounds wonderful!
The B3 is adding some much needed depth and warmth to songs such as Flowers and The Savages.

The B3 is an amazing instrument and to hear it played so well is such a pleasure. It produces a deep guttural sombre mood and the one that they have here is cool. The cab is like a monster lurking in the basement! It sounds so loud and huge!
We also asked Marc Pilley to play the banjo on Dancing Bears and Heaven’s Door. It worked beautifully on these songs. We also tried it on rocking horse and it gives the song a really cool dirty haunting vibe, which brings a vision of the devil dancing in cowboy boots to mind when I listen to it.

Later on, Max played some haunting piano parts for Flowers and The Kiss. The upright piano at Ca Va is very old and has its own unique vibe, as do all pianos. It’s not the right sound for all of the songs but it works really well as a ghostly haunted piano playing in the distance and pulled right back in the mix.
